Job Description
A school is seeking a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments in Winters, CA. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and development within a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students communication and learning requirements
- Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to students to enhance their academic success
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers
- Train staff and families on strategies to support students with hearing impairments
- Utilize assistive technologies and resources appropriate for deaf or hard of hearing students
- Monitor student progress and adjust services as needed in accordance with educational goals and state regulations
Qualifications:
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students within a school setting
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, communication methods (e.g., sign language, speech reading), and hearing assistive technology
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support teams
- Relevant certifications or licensure related to deaf education or special education
- Strong communication and organizational skills
