Job Description

Bring your expertise supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to a vibrant educational setting and make an immediate impact. As a specialist in this area, youll collaborate with dedicated educators, provide direct and consultative services, and advocate for student access within their school environments. Youll play a crucial role in fostering inclusion and enhancing communication for students across a range of abilities.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification or endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field
  • Proven experience working with school-aged children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Familiarity with a variety of communication modalities (e.g., ASL, Total Communication, oral/aural approaches)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of assistive listening technologies and adaptive equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within classroom and resource settings
  • Assess student needs and progress, and contribute to multidisciplinary team evaluations
  • Consult regularly with general education teachers on accommodations, accessibility, and instructional modifications
  • Train and support staff on the use of assistive technologies and classroom strategies
  • Advocate for student access to curriculum, extracurricular activities, and school-wide events
  • Serve as a resource to families, offering guidance and support
