Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify communication and learning needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, families, and related service providers.
  • Provide direct instruction in auditory, speech, and language skills, as well as use of assistive technology and communication systems.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to classroom teachers, staff, and parents regarding strategies and accommodations.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed to support academic and social development.
  • Facilitate communication between students and peers, promoting inclusive learning environments.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices related to Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification and training in Deaf Education or related field.
  • Experience working with school-aged children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Knowledge of communication approaches such as American Sign Language (ASL), total communication, or auditory-verbal methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and cultural sensitivity, especially within diverse educational settings.
