Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- State certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, or eligibility to obtain it
- Demonstrated experience working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind children in a K-12 school setting
- Strong understanding of various communication methods, such as American Sign Language and total communication
- Ability to assess students needs and recommend appropriate accommodations, technology, or services
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, therapists, and family members
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Conduct hearing screenings and interpret audiological reports
- Offer recommendations and training on assistive technology and classroom adaptations
- Collaborate with staff to promote effective strategies for student access and engagement
- Support families by sharing resources and facilitating communication between home and school
- Prepare progress updates and documentation as required
