A contract opportunity is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting located in Tyler, TX. This role requires expertise in supporting students with hearing impairments to ensure their academic success and social integration within the educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and specialized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize communication strategies and assistive technologies to enhance student learning and participation.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations related to hearing impairments.
- Advocate for students' needs and promote an inclusive school environment.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credential.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of audiology, speechreading, sign language, and assistive technology.
- Ability to develop and implement effective instructional plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with relevant special education laws and regulations.
