Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) specialization
- Experience or training in supporting students with hearing impairments
- Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, American Sign Language (ASL), and accessible instructional strategies
- Skilled at creating and adapting Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for DHH students
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
- Previous experience working in an elementary school is highly desirable
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Modify and adapt instruction to ensure full accessibility and engagement for DHH students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to implement effective instructional strategies
- Monitor student progress, assess skill development, and revise interventions as needed
- Facilitate communication and inclusion between DHH students, peers, and school staff
- Support families by sharing resources, strategies, and progress updates
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
