Youll collaborate with educational staff to design and implement individualized strategies that support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, promote self-advocacy, and facilitate communication skills development. Your expertise will play a critical role in fostering confidence, independence, and academic success.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current licensure or certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility)
- Experience in educational settings supporting school-aged children preferred
- Strong knowledge of audiological devices, assistive technologies, and instructional accommodations
- Effective communication with students, educators, and families
- Skills in developing and delivering educational and compensatory strategies tailored to individual student needs
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable
- Collaborative approach and innovative problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students to determine individual communication, access, and instructional needs
- Develop and help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct and consultative services to students, staff, and families
- Advocate for appropriate resources and classroom modifications to optimize learning
- Deliver training and support to teachers and staff regarding best practices in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Foster an inclusive, positive school environment for students of all abilities
