Desired Skills and Experience:
- Valid certification and/or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with hearing loss
- Strong knowledge of assistive and adaptive technologies for hearing impairments
- Ability to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and track student progress
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication modes is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to adapt curriculum and learning activities
- Conduct assessments and participate in team meetings to develop goals and strategies
- Offer training and resources to faculty members to foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families, providing updates and resources to support student success
- Advocate for the needs of students to ensure equal access to educational opportunities
