A school-based position is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist dedicated to supporting students with hearing impairments. This contract role, located in Stone Mountain, GA, focuses on delivering specialized educational services to enhance learning and communication for students with varying degrees of hearing loss.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to support auditory, speech, and language development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to facilitate an inclusive learning environment.
- Provide direct instruction and support using assistive listening devices and communication strategies.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention plans accordingly.
- Train school personnel on best practices for accommodating students with hearing impairments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
