Empower young learners as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, supporting elementary students in a vibrant classroom environment. This contract opportunity places you at the forefront of inclusive education, making meaningful connections and fostering communication skills in students with hearing differences.
Your expertise as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will help create a nurturing atmosphere, ensuring every child feels seen, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Youll work Monday through Friday with a dedicated, collaborative team committed to student growth and advocacy in the Modesto area.
Qualifications and Desired Experience
- State certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility)
- Proven experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students at the elementary level
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt and implement lessons to meet the unique learning needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Utilize visual, tactile, and technology-driven tools to facilitate instruction in the elementary classroom
- Develop and monitor IEP goals in partnership with school teams and families
- Advocate for student accessibility and participate in professional development
- Foster a positive, supportive environment that encourages student independence and achievement
