A contract opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support educational needs within a school setting in Starkville, MS. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they have access to effective communication and learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students with hearing impairments, addressing their academic and communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized resources to facilitate student learning.
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress regularly.
- Provide training and support to school personnel on strategies for working with deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Advocate for the rights and accommodations of students in compliance with relevant educational guidelines and laws.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Specialist in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational environment.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
