A school district in Spartanburg, SC, is seeking a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments. This contract position involves providing specialized educational services tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within the school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to address student needs.
• Conduct assessments and monitor student progress.
• Provide direct instruction and support using appropriate communication methods and assistive technologies.
• Facilitate inclusion and access to the general education curriculum.
• Offer guidance and training to staff on best practices for working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing.
• Experience working directly with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational environment.
• Knowledge of communication strategies, assistive technology, and educational accommodations.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage caseload effectively.
