Job Description

This position is for a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support K-12 students in a South San Francisco school setting. As a contract role, you will work closely with educators, families, and support staff to help students with hearing impairments access the general education curriculum and thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and intervention tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress related to hearing and communication development
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies to enhance student learning
  • Train and support school personnel and families on best practices and accommodations for deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and independence

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with children and youth who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
  • Knowledge of audiological equipment, assistive listening devices, and communication methods such as ASL or Cued Speech
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and comply with educational regulations
