Job Description
A position is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting located in South Lyon, Michigan. This contract role requires a professional with expertise in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they receive appropriate educational accommodations and services.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and support students with hearing impairments to optimize their learning experience.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to provide specialized instruction and resources.
- Utilize assistive listening devices and communication strategies effectively within the classroom.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Provide training and guidance to school personnel on best practices for including students with hearing loss.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
- Experience working in educational environments with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant modalities.
- Ability to design and implement effective instructional plans.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
