Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching license
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) required
  • Experience serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational environment is highly valued
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials to accommodate individual learning needs
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive classroom experiences

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, working collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
  • Modify curriculum and create accessible educational materials to ensure full access for students
  • Deliver direct instruction in both individual and small group settings based on students IEP goals
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise on hearing loss and recommending effective accommodations
  • Advocate for students needs and promote self-advocacy skills
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of student performance
  • Support professional development for colleagues on best practices in deaf education and inclusion
