A Contract opportunity is available for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting located in Sacramento, CA. This role involves providing specialized support and services to students with hearing impairments to enhance their educational experience and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure effective communication and learning strategies.
- Provide direct instruction and support using specialized techniques and equipment.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust services accordingly.
- Advocate for students needs within the educational environment and facilitate access to resources.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and services provided.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent credentials.
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators, families, and related service providers.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational programming.
