Job Description
A position is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students within a school setting in Putnam, CT. This contract role requires expertise in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to facilitate their academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized education plans for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement effective communication strategies.
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students hearing needs.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and growth.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school environment.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods commonly used with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and specialists.
