Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of assistive technology for hearing impairments
- Strong understanding of individualized education plan (IEP) development and implementation
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and current best practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of student needs and make recommendations for accommodations or modifications
- Develop, adapt, and deliver specialized instruction to meet IEP objectives
- Provide direct services to students individually or in small groups to enhance language, communication, and academic achievement
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure optimal learning environments
- Offer training and support to school staff on hearing impairment awareness and instructional strategies
- Maintain detailed records and participate in IEP meetings
