Key Qualifications:
- Valid credential or certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working with school-aged children with hearing differences
- Proficiency in sign language and a range of assistive communication methods
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and staff
- Adaptability and sensitivity to diverse learning needs and cultural backgrounds
Responsibilities:
- Assess students' hearing levels and educational needs through observation and formal evaluation methods
- Develop, implement, and monitor instructional strategies tailored to each student's unique requirements
- Facilitate communication and accessibility within the classroom, collaborating closely with general education teachers
- Provide direct instruction and support, fostering language, literacy, and social-emotional growth
- Consult and train staff and families in understanding hearing loss and using technology or accommodations
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, documentation, and ongoing progress tracking
