A position is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a school setting located in Pasco, WA. This contract role requires expertise in supporting students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have access to appropriate educational resources and accommodations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Utilize and implement assistive technologies and communication methods appropriate to student abilities.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to enhance learning outcomes.
- Train and advise school personnel on best practices for supporting deaf and hard of hearing students.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in deaf education or related field.
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational environment.
- Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), speech reading, and assistive technology.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and support staff.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
