Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the educational needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, families, and other professionals
- Provide direct instructional support in communication methods such as sign language and auditory training
- Facilitate inclusion by supporting student participation in classroom activities and social opportunities
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure academic success
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administration to create an accessible and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent educational background
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication techniques preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized instruction and special education regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to adapt instruction based on student capabilities and needs
