Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current certification or license relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist roles
- Expertise in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience providing direct and consultative services within school settings is preferred
- Strong advocacy, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources for Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students with hearing differences, individually or in small groups
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and other support staff to create and monitor effective educational plans
- Provide guidance and training to school staff regarding best practices and accommodations for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP meetings, assessments, and documentation
- Facilitate access to classroom content and foster an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
- Stay up to date on policies and current developments in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
