A school is seeking a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide expert support and instructional services for students with hearing impairments. Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique communication and learning requirements
- Provide direct instructional support using sign language, auditory training, and assistive technologies
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote effective communication strategies and classroom accommodations
- Train and support school personnel on best practices for working with deaf and hard of hearing students
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed to ensure academic and social growth
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and maintain accurate documentation
Qualifications:
- Relevant certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent credentials
- Experience working in a school setting supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used by students with hearing impairments
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs and individualized support strategies
- Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and educational resources for hearing-impaired students
