Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current certification or license relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist roles
  • Expertise in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Experience providing direct and consultative services within school settings is preferred
  • Strong advocacy, collaboration, and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources for Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students with hearing differences, individually or in small groups
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and other support staff to create and monitor effective educational plans
  • Provide guidance and training to school staff regarding best practices and accommodations for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to IEP meetings, assessments, and documentation
  • Facilitate access to classroom content and foster an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
  • Stay up to date on policies and current developments in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
