Job Description

This position seeks a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Olympia, WA. This contract role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in audiology services, communication techniques, and educational support to enhance the learning experiences of students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Assess student needs and recommend assistive technology or accommodations.
  • Facilitate communication between students and their peers through sign language, lip reading, or other methods.
  • Monitor progress and adjust educational strategies to optimize student outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure relevant to deaf and hard of hearing educational services.
  • Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school environment.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and best practices related to special education services for students with hearing impairments.
