Key Qualifications:
- Current certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working within school settings or in direct service to children with hearing loss
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and monitoring
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) highly preferred
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative approach to working with teachers, families, and related service providers
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support and instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in accordance with their IEPs
- Assess student needs and progress, using data to inform educational strategies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching techniques to meet individual student goals
- Offer training and resources to staff and families on accommodations, assistive technology, and communication strategies
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that celebrates diverse learning needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings as an essential team member
