Make a meaningful impact supporting students from early childhood through 8th grade as a Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers a dynamic opportunity to provide essential educational services in a collaborative school environment. Working 35 hours per week, you will empower students to reach their full potential by delivering targeted instruction and support, all from a virtual setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students from early childhood through middle school
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and goal development
- Proficiency in virtual teaching platforms and digital communication tools
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to track and report progress
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct virtual instruction and support to students with varying levels of hearing ability
- Participate in and contribute to IEP meetings, collaborating to develop individualized educational plans
- Maintain accurate and thorough progress notes and required documentation
- Communicate regularly with families and staff, providing updates and advocating for student needs
- Work collaboratively with other educators, therapists, and administrators to ensure a holistic approach to student development
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit individual learning styles and needs
