Job Description

An educational opportunity is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support student success in a school setting located in Mount Vernon, WA. This contract position offers the chance to work directly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing specialized support tailored to their communication and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support plans for deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Facilitate communication access through sign language or other appropriate methods.
  • Provide consultation and training to school personnel on best practices for serving deaf/hard of hearing learners.
  • Communicate effectively with families to support student development and foster home-school connections.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credential.
  • Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in an educational environment.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication systems.
  • Strong understanding of audiological and educational considerations impacting learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and other service providers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
