A school-based specialist role is available for a professional experienced in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This contract position is located in Mooseheart, IL, offering the opportunity to work closely with educators and families to enhance communication and learning outcomes for students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within the school environment.
- Develop and implement individualized communication and learning plans tailored to student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate effective strategies.
- Provide training and resources to school personnel and families regarding hearing loss and communication methods.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Facilitate the use of assistive technology and other accommodations.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all relevant regulations and policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
- Experience working with school-age children who have hearing impairments.
- Strong knowledge of communication methods, including sign language and assistive listening devices.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with educational regulations related to special education services is preferred.
- Commitment to supporting student success and inclusion.
