Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching credential for Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Specialized training or certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working in elementary educational settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of ASL and other communication modalities for DHH students
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, students, and families
- Up-to-date understanding of best practices in differentiated instruction and IEP implementation
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver focused instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within the elementary classroom
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt lessons and materials
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address student needs
- Provide guidance and support to general education staff on effective inclusion strategies
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes in accordance with district standards
- Foster a welcoming and engaging learning atmosphere for every student
- Communicate regularly with families, serving as a resource and advocate
