Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments in a K-12 school setting
- Strong knowledge of hearing assistive technology and communication systems such as sign language, FM systems, or CART services
- Collaborative approach with educators, families, and other service providers
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation
- Comfortable designing and implementing tailored instructional strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students needs and create effective educational plans to promote access and independence
- Consult with teachers and school staff on communication strategies, modifications, and technology integration
- Directly instruct students individually or in small groups, teaching academic content, self-advocacy, and life skills
- Monitor progress and adapt interventions as needed to maximize student growth
- Serve as a resource for families, helping them understand their childs unique strengths and facilitating home-school collaboration
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
