Qualifications:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of assistive technology, communication methods, and accommodations
- Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and other service professionals
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse language and learning needs
- Conduct assessments and report on student progress related to communication and academic goals
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive and accessible learning environments
- Facilitate training for school personnel on best practices and awareness
- Stay current on trends, research, and legal requirements in Deaf education
