Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience supporting students with hearing impairments in a K-12 school setting
  • Strong knowledge of hearing assistive technology and communication systems such as sign language, FM systems, or CART services
  • Collaborative approach with educators, families, and other service providers
  • Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation
  • Comfortable designing and implementing tailored instructional strategies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students needs and create effective educational plans to promote access and independence
  • Consult with teachers and school staff on communication strategies, modifications, and technology integration
  • Directly instruct students individually or in small groups, teaching academic content, self-advocacy, and life skills
  • Monitor progress and adapt interventions as needed to maximize student growth
  • Serve as a resource for families, helping them understand their childs unique strengths and facilitating home-school collaboration
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
