Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working in school settings with students across multiple grade levels
  • Strong understanding of audiological devices, assistive technology, and communication modes (ASL, Total Communication, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet individual student needs
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills when working with educators, families, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, supporting their access to the curriculum
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Conduct assessments to determine students needs and recommend appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Train and advise staff on strategies, equipment use, and best practices for inclusion
  • Offer guidance for creating accessible classroom materials and fostering a supportive learning atmosphere
  • Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring their needs are represented and understood within the school community
