Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting
  • Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
  • Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to advocacy and empowerment for each student

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting assessments to determine student needs and effective support strategies
  • Developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Providing direct instruction and support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
  • Consulting with teachers and staff to adapt curriculum or classroom environment
  • Offering resources and guidance for families to encourage student growth
  • Promoting self-advocacy and independence for students
  • Staying current with best practices and legal requirements in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
