Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
- Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to advocacy and empowerment for each student
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting assessments to determine student needs and effective support strategies
- Developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Providing direct instruction and support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Consulting with teachers and staff to adapt curriculum or classroom environment
- Offering resources and guidance for families to encourage student growth
- Promoting self-advocacy and independence for students
- Staying current with best practices and legal requirements in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
