What we're seeking:
- Experience supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational environments
- Proficiency with assistive technologies, including FM systems and hearing aids
- Strong knowledge of various communication modalities (ASL, Signed English, oral interpreting)
- Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs tailored for students with hearing differences
- Ability to promote effective self-advocacy and empowerment among students
- Excellent organizational skills and a collaborative spirit when working with teachers, staff, and families
- Appropriate state licensure or certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing specialists
Your responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss
- Consult with classroom teachers to adapt lessons, environments, and materials
- Monitor students' progress and modify strategies to maximize success
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and ongoing student assessments
- Educate staff and peers to foster an inclusive, understanding school atmosphere
