A specialized opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Manhattan, KS. This contract position focuses on providing tailored educational services and support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring their academic success and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with hearing loss.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to enhance communication and learning.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive and accessible classroom environment.
- Provide direct support and intervention for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Conduct assessments and monitor students progress, adjusting instructional approaches as needed.
- Offer training and resources to staff and families to increase awareness and understanding of hearing disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or certification in Deaf Education or a related field.
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and communication methods such as sign language or speech reading.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience working in a school setting with deaf or hard of hearing students.
