Job Description

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working in educational settings, preferably with school-aged children
  • Strong knowledge of current assistive technologies and accommodations
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
  • Ability to collaborate closely with general and special education teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students needs and design individualized support strategies
  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure effective inclusion
  • Train staff on assistive technology and communication approaches
  • Monitor and document students progress, adjusting interventions as needed
  • Advocate for accessibility and appropriate resources within the school community
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal-setting and progress reports
