A school district in Kathleen, GA is seeking a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an educational environment by providing specialized instruction and support tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement appropriate educational plans
- Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies to enhance learning experiences
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions to meet student needs
- Participate in meetings and maintain accurate documentation of services and student achievements
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), speech therapy, or auditory-verbal techniques
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, students, and families
