Empower students to communicate, learn, and thrive as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist on a contract assignment. This dynamic role supports educational programming for students with hearing challenges, collaborating with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure an inclusive classroom environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (according to state guidelines)
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of auditory technologies, including FM systems and hearing aids
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities preferred
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with varying hearing needs
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and organizational skills
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Assessing students functional communication and auditory skills
- Consulting with classroom teachers to provide accommodations and instructional strategies
- Delivering direct and indirect services to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Facilitating access to curriculum and school activities through visual aids and assistive technology
- Providing guidance and resources to families and staff regarding best practices for supporting deaf/hard of hearing learners
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and contributing to educational planning
