Seeking a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist for a school contract position in Kansas City, KS. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing specialized support and services to enhance their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' auditory and communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to ensure comprehensive support.
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies to facilitate learning.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust support accordingly.
- Provide training or resources to staff to increase awareness and effective communication practices.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related qualification.
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of auditory and visual communication methods, including sign language.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
