A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Kansas City, KS. This contract position focuses on providing tailored educational services to students with hearing impairments, facilitating their academic growth and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure effective communication and learning strategies.
- Utilize specialized tools and technology to enhance accessibility and participation in the classroom.
- Conduct hearing screenings and monitor auditory progress.
- Provide direct instruction in communication skills, including sign language when applicable.
- Advocate for student needs and promote an inclusive educational environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
- Experience working in educational settings with deaf or hard of hearing students.
- Strong knowledge of audiology, speech reading, and deaf culture.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and other relevant technologies.
