Step into a dynamic virtual position supporting students from early childhood through 8th grade as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This full-time contract opportunity involves working 35 hours per week with a diverse student population near Joliet, IL. You'll serve as a key educational partner, ensuring every learner has the support they need to succeed.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Previous experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally within school settings
- Comfort and proficiency with virtual learning platforms and technology tools
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and relevant educational frameworks
What Youll Do:
- Deliver direct virtual instruction and support to students in early childhood through 8th grade
- Participate in IEP meetings as the specialist for students with hearing needs
- Maintain detailed progress notes to monitor student achievement and growth
- Work closely with general and special education staff to foster student inclusion and success
- Adapt and modify lessons to fit individual student needs and ensure accessibility
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students, families, and teachers regarding deaf/hard of hearing education
