Make a real impact by supporting students as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist in a dynamic school environment near Irving, TX. In this contract role, youll work closely with students, educators, and families to foster communication access and educational growth, ensuring each child reaches their full potential. Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent credential required
- Experience working in educational settings, preferably with school-age children or adolescents
- Strong understanding of hearing assistive technology and classroom accommodations
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities for Deaf / Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, families, and administrative staff
- Passion for empowering students to develop communication, self-advocacy, and social-emotional skills
Responsibilities:
- Support individual students and classrooms with communication strategies and auditory support
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide direct instruction and intervention as appropriate to students needs
- Offer training and consultation to staff on Deaf / Hard of Hearing accommodations and best practices
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and families within the school community
- Monitor and report progress, adjusting interventions as needed
