A rewarding opportunity is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Irving, TX. This contract position involves working closely with educators, students, and families to provide specialized services that enhance communication and learning for students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Provide direct instruction and support using appropriate communication methods and technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and support staff to facilitate effective learning environments
- Advocate for students' access to educational resources and accommodations
- Conduct training sessions for staff and families on deaf/hard of hearing related topics
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent qualification
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Knowledge of speech, auditory, and language development related to hearing impairments
- Familiarity with assistive technologies such as FM systems and CART services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
