This position seeks a qualified Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students within a school setting. The role is based in Grandview, MO, and operates on a contract basis, providing an opportunity to apply specialized skills in an educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized education plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Implement communication strategies, including sign language and assistive listening devices, to enhance learning.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure students' needs are met.
- Provide specialized instruction and support to improve academic and social outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods.
- Knowledge of auditory and speech development and related technologies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with students and educational teams.
