Seeking a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting in Grand Rapids, MI. This contract position is ideal for professionals with experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students, facilitating their educational progress and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and support students with hearing impairments to enhance their academic success
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students communication and learning needs
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to provide effective interventions and accommodations
- Utilize assistive listening devices and technology to improve classroom accessibility
- Conduct hearing screenings and monitor student progress regularly
- Provide counseling and support to students to build self-advocacy skills
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or specialized training in deaf education or a related field
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used with hearing-impaired students
