Job Description

A school is seeking a qualified Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide expert support and tailored educational services for students with hearing impairments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines

  • Provide direct support and specialized instruction to students to enhance language development, auditory skills, and social-emotional growth

  • Participate in staff training and professional development to promote awareness and understanding of hearing disabilities

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent credentials
  • Experience working in a school setting with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices, communication methods (e.g., ASL, Cued Speech), and instructional strategies tailored to hearing-impaired students
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and manage IEPs effectively
