Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working in school settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities commonly used by individuals with hearing loss
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and assessment
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to provide training and support to educators and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, supporting their access to curriculum and school participation
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place
- Advocate for the needs of students, providing resources and recommendations as necessary
- Conduct assessments and provide progress monitoring
- Offer training sessions on deaf culture, hearing technologies, and effective classroom strategies
