Job Description

A school is seeking a qualified Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments. This contract position is located in Federal Way, WA, and requires expertise in delivering tailored educational strategies to meet the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure effective communication and accommodations
  • Provide direct instructional support in areas such as language development, speechreading, and listening skills
  • Use assistive technology and resources to enhance student learning
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development related to Deaf and Hard of Hearing education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse student needs

Location: Federal Way, Washington (onsite in a school environment)
