Empower students with hearing loss to thrive in an inclusive educational environment near Fairbanks, AK. This contract opportunity focuses on providing specialized support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, collaborating with educators, administrators, and families to promote access and academic growth.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of audiological devices, assistive technology, and communication strategies
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities, preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students needs and create tailored interventions to support communication and learning
- Provide direct instruction and consultation to students, teachers, and support staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with team members to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Offer resources and training to staff and families to enhance understanding of Deaf/Hard of Hearing issues
- Support classroom inclusion through observation, recommendations, and ongoing dialogue with school personnel
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and compliance documentation
