A rewarding opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students within a school setting. This contract position is located in Eugene, OR, and focuses on providing specialized educational services to students with hearing impairments to ensure their academic success and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to accommodate students' learning requirements
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress to adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Provide direct instruction and support in communication skills, auditory training, and use of assistive technology
- Advocate for students' needs within the school community and communicate effectively with families
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credentials
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a K-12 educational environment
- Strong knowledge of hearing loss, communication methods, and assistive technologies
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with families
- Familiarity with legal requirements and educational standards related to students with hearing impairments
