A school is seeking a qualified Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide support and specialized services within their educational setting in Dudley, MA. This contract position focuses on delivering tailored instruction and assistance to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have access to a comprehensive and inclusive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Provide direct instruction and support utilizing appropriate communication methods and assistive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to promote student success
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training related to hearing impairments and educational best practices
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or related qualification
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, therapists, and families
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and specialized instructional methods for hearing-impaired students
