Qualifications or Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working in school settings or with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, IEP processes, and accessibility accommodations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to promote educational success
  • Facilitate access to classroom curriculum and activities through advocacy, assistive technology, and interpreting services as appropriate
  • Serve as a resource on hearing loss and communication strategies for staff and families
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings
