Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with students in PreK-12th grade settings
- Strong understanding of audiological needs, assistive technology, and individualized education plan (IEP) processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable adapting strategies to meet diverse student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across school environments
- Assess students current functioning, recommend appropriate accommodations and supports
- Collaborate in IEP meetings, goal development, and ongoing progress monitoring
- Serve as a resource to teachers and staff, promoting accessible curricula and classroom adaptations
- Facilitate communication access for studentswhether through sign language, technology, or interpreting services
- Offer training and guidance to families and educators about hearing loss and advocacy
