Job Description

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility for certification)
  • Experience working with students in PreK-12th grade settings
  • Strong understanding of audiological needs, assistive technology, and individualized education plan (IEP) processes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable adapting strategies to meet diverse student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across school environments
  • Assess students current functioning, recommend appropriate accommodations and supports
  • Collaborate in IEP meetings, goal development, and ongoing progress monitoring
  • Serve as a resource to teachers and staff, promoting accessible curricula and classroom adaptations
  • Facilitate communication access for studentswhether through sign language, technology, or interpreting services
  • Offer training and guidance to families and educators about hearing loss and advocacy
