Job Description

This position is for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist supporting students within a school environment. The role requires expertise in working with children who have hearing impairments to provide tailored educational support and communication strategies.

Job Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Provide direct instructional support using specialized techniques and assistive technology
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to enhance student learning and inclusion
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs
  • Conduct hearing assessments and interpret audiological reports to inform instruction
  • Advocate for and promote a supportive learning environment that addresses students communication and academic needs

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related credential
  • Experience working in K-12 educational settings with students who have hearing impairments
  • Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, sign language, and communication strategies
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized plans to meet diverse student needs
