A specialized opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students in a school setting located in Council, Idaho. This contract position offers the chance to provide targeted assistance to students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic success and communication skills within an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the unique learning needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students requirements
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to create an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
- Provide direct instruction and support utilizing appropriate communication methods such as sign language, auditory training, and assistive technologies
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to optimize educational outcomes
- Conduct training sessions for school staff to increase awareness and understanding of hearing differences
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or related expertise
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods
- Strong knowledge of educational strategies and assistive technologies for hearing impaired students
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
