Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility for credential in the state)
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss, preferably in educational or school-based settings
  • Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, communication modalities (including ASL, Signed English, oral approaches), and auditory training techniques
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with teachers, administrators, families, and service providers
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a student-centered mindset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting materials and teaching methods to individual needs
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, contributing expertise to multidisciplinary teams
  • Consult with classroom teachers, adapting curricula and environments for accessibility
  • Educate staff and peers on effective communication strategies and promote understanding of hearing loss
  • Facilitate access to assistive listening technology and support its implementation across school settings
