Job Description

A specialized role is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide expert support within a school setting. This position involves working closely with students who have hearing impairments, ensuring their educational needs are met through tailored instructional strategies and collaborative support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and implement individualized educational plans for students with hearing loss
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to enhance communication access
  • Utilize assistive technology and hearing devices effectively in the classroom
  • Provide direct instruction and support focused on language development and auditory skills
  • Monitor student progress and adjust methods as needed to promote optimal learning outcomes
  • Offer training and resources to staff regarding best practices for deaf and hard of hearing students

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with children who have sensory impairments in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration
