Job Description

A school district in Burleson, TX, seeks a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized educational services tailored to the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and support students with hearing impairments to develop effective communication and learning strategies
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to create individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide direct instruction and intervention focused on auditory and speech skills, language development, and social integration
  • Train staff on accommodations and assistive technology relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Familiarity with assistive hearing technology and communication modalities such as sign language
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
